Santos Decommissioning

Santos Decommissioning

Project Overview

Decommissioning is a required and inevitable phase in the lifecycle of offshore petroleum assets in Australia. Santos has completed the decommissioning of the Campbell Platform and is currently undertaking decommissioning activities at Harriet Alpha, and the Simpson A & B Platforms. These assets, once integral to production in the Carnarvon Basin, are now being safely retired in accordance with regulatory and environmental obligations.

The Challenge

Offshore decommissioning presents complex technical and regulatory challenges. Activities must be carefully planned and executed to ensure compliance with offshore safety regulations while protecting both personnel and the surrounding marine environment.

Our Current Role

Ideight provides specialist safety expertise to support the decommissioning of these Santos-operated platforms. Our team works closely with project stakeholders to ensure decommissioning scopes are executed in full compliance with regulatory requirements, while maintaining a strong focus on operational safety and environmental protection.

Progress & Outcomes

Ideight is currently supporting Santos in the decommissioning of the Simpson A & B platforms in alignment with regulatory requirements through the development of safety cases. Through structured safety planning and risk management processes, our work helps ensure that decommissioning activities are carried out safely, efficiently and in accordance with industry best practice.

Closing Statement

Through strong collaboration and a disciplined safety-first approach, Ideight continues to support the safe retirement of offshore assets across the Carnarvon Basin.
